EduSpace Terms of Use

Effective date: 1 September 2026 · Last updated: 2 October 202615 min read

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and EDU SPACE - FZCO, a company registered in the Dubai Silicon Oasis free zone, Dubai, United Arab Emirates ("EduSpace", "we", "us"). They cover the EduSpace website at edu-space.io and the EduSpace mobile application for iOS and Android (together, the "Service").

By creating an account or using the Service you accept these Terms, together with the Community Rules, the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy, which form part of them. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.

1. What EduSpace is

EduSpace is an education platform built around spaces — communities where people teach and study together. Inside a space you will find a feed, chats, shared notes, a calendar, live video sessions and courses. Some spaces are open to everyone; some are private; some charge for access.

Most of what you see on EduSpace is made by other people, not by us. We provide the place and the tools.

2. Who may use the Service

You must be 13 years old or older to have an EduSpace account. In countries where the law sets a higher minimum age for consenting to data processing without a parent (16 in much of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom), you must be at least that age, or have your parent or guardian accept these Terms for you.

If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, you may use EduSpace only with the knowledge and permission of a parent or guardian. By allowing you to use the Service, your parent or guardian accepts these Terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use of it, including any purchases. Purchases should be made by, or with the permission of, the parent or guardian.

If you use EduSpace on behalf of a school, a company or another organisation, you confirm you are allowed to accept these Terms for it.

You may not use the Service if you are barred from doing so under the laws of the UAE, your own country, or the export control and sanctions rules described in section 16.

3. Your account

You sign in with your email address and a one-time code, with Google, or with Sign in with Apple. Keep access to that mailbox, to your Google or Apple account and to your device: anyone who has them can reach your account.

You are responsible for keeping the details in your account accurate and for what happens under your account. Tell us at [email protected] if you believe someone else is using it.

One person, one account. Do not sell your account, lend it, or pretend to be someone else.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of everything you post. Posts, comments, notes, files, messages, courses, recordings — all of it stays yours.

To be able to show your content to the people you meant it for, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, adapt for display, and transmit it — only for operating and improving the Service, and only for as long as you keep it on EduSpace. If you delete something, the licence ends when the content is removed from our systems and our backups (see the Privacy Policy for retention periods).

You confirm that you have the right to post what you post, and that it does not infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights.

We do not use your content to train artificial intelligence models, and we do not sell it.

5. Rules of conduct

Our Community Rules are part of these Terms. You must use the Service lawfully and with respect for others. In short, the following are not allowed anywhere on EduSpace:

  • harassment, bullying, threats, blackmail, or targeting a person or a group;
  • hate speech, discrimination, or content that incites violence, hatred or terrorism;
  • sexual content involving minors — reported to the authorities without exception — and pornography or indecent content of any kind;
  • content that encourages self-harm or suicide;
  • defamation, insults, or knowingly spreading false information, rumours or fabricated news;
  • invading someone's privacy: publishing their personal data, photos, recordings or private conversations without their consent;
  • content that offends religions or public morals, or that is otherwise contrary to public order under the laws of the United Arab Emirates;
  • spam, scams, fraud, pyramid schemes, gambling and misleading commercial offers;
  • offering or promoting illegal goods or services, including drugs and weapons;
  • malware, phishing, or attempts to break into other people's accounts or our systems;
  • material you have no right to publish;
  • impersonating another person or organisation.

Some of these acts are also offences under UAE law, including Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021 on Combatting Rumours and Cybercrimes, and under the laws of other countries. You are responsible for complying with the law that applies to you.

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Every post, comment, profile, space and message can be reported from inside the app. Reports reach a moderator, and we act on them within 24 hours: we remove what breaks the rules and we suspend or remove the accounts of people who post it. You can also block any user, which hides their content from you and yours from them across the whole platform.

6. Moderation and enforcement

We may remove content or restrict, suspend or close an account when we reasonably believe these Terms or the Community Rules have been broken, when the law or a competent authority requires it, or when someone is at risk of harm. Where it is possible and safe, we tell you what happened and why.

If you disagree with a decision, you may reply to [email protected] to appeal, as described in the Community Rules. A person who did not take the original decision reviews it, and we tell you the outcome. Serious cases — child safety, credible threats, coordinated attacks — may be acted on immediately and without notice.

We may preserve content and share it with law enforcement or other competent authorities where the law requires it or where it is needed to protect someone from serious harm.

We are not obliged to monitor everything published on the Service, and we do not review content before it appears.

7. Prices, payment and taxes

Before you pay for anything, the app or the website shows the price, the currency, what you get, and — for subscriptions — the billing period and the fact that it renews automatically. You confirm the purchase before you are charged.

Where value added tax or a similar tax applies — including UAE VAT under Federal Decree-Law No. 8 of 2017 on Value Added Tax — the checkout states whether the price includes it. Your bank or card issuer may add its own conversion or foreign transaction fees, which we do not control.

Payments are processed by Apple, Google or Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.

8. Paid plans

EduSpace has three plans: Free, Plus and Premium. Paid plans raise limits (spaces, members, storage, session length) and unlock cosmetic extras. Current prices and limits are shown in the app before you pay.

A paid plan renews automatically for the same period, at the price then in effect, until it is cancelled. If we change the price of a plan, we tell you in advance and the new price applies only from your next renewal, so you have the chance to cancel before it does. Where you bought the plan decides how to cancel it:

  • Bought in the iOS app: payment is charged to your Apple ID. The subscription renews automatically unless you turn it off in your Apple ID settings at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Deleting the EduSpace app or your EduSpace account does not cancel it. Refunds for purchases made through the App Store are handled by Apple under Apple's policies.
  • Bought in the Android app: payment is charged to your Google Play account. Cancel it in your Google Play subscriptions. Deleting the app or your EduSpace account does not cancel it. Refunds for purchases made through Google Play are handled under Google Play's policies.
  • Bought on the website: payment is handled by Stripe. Cancel or change your plan in the billing portal inside your EduSpace account.

Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep the paid features until the end of the period you have already paid for. Payments for a period that has already started are not refunded, except where the Service was not provided as described, or where the law that applies to you gives you a right to a refund. To ask for a refund for a website purchase, write to [email protected].

If a plan ends, you keep your data but return to Free limits. We will not delete content because you downgraded; we may stop you from adding more until you are back inside the limits.

9. EduCoins

EduCoins are a prepaid credit inside EduSpace, not money. They have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for cash, cannot be transferred between accounts, and are not a deposit, stored value or a payment instrument of any kind. Your coin balance and statement are shown in your wallet in the app.

  • Coins are bought through the App Store on iOS, through Google Play on Android, and through the payment page on the website. A markup is added on purchase and stated on the top-up screen — it covers payment processing, and it is charged once, when coins are bought, rather than on every purchase you make with them.
  • Coins pay for things inside the platform: access to paid spaces, courses, entry to paid live sessions, extra messages with the Cate assistant.
  • Coins are not refundable once bought, except where the law of your country says otherwise, or through the store you bought them from.
  • Coins do not expire while your account exists. If your account is deleted, any remaining coins are lost — the deletion screen says so before you confirm.
  • We may change what things cost in coins. Changes apply to future purchases, never retroactively.

10. Courses and paid spaces sold by other people

EduSpace is also a marketplace. Teachers publish courses and run paid spaces, and set their own prices.

The contract for a course or paid space is between you and its author. EduSpace provides the platform, collects the payment and forwards the author's share, keeping a platform fee stated in the author's dashboard.

Authors are responsible for what they promise and deliver, and for complying with the laws that apply to their teaching and their sales, including tax and consumer protection law. If a course is not what it claimed, write to the author first; if that leads nowhere, write to [email protected] — we can remove the course from sale, and, where the payment allows it, arrange a refund.

Access to purchased digital content starts immediately and, for that reason, the 14-day right of withdrawal under EU consumer law does not apply once access has opened. You are asked to confirm this before you pay. This does not affect any right you have if the content is faulty or not as described.

11. Live sessions and recordings

Video sessions run over LiveKit. A session may be recorded by whoever runs it; when recording is on, everyone in the session sees an indicator. If you do not want to be recorded, you can leave the session or turn off your camera and microphone.

Do not record, photograph or redistribute other people's sessions, or capture other participants, without their agreement. In the UAE and many other countries this can be a criminal offence.

12. The Cate assistant

Cate is an AI assistant built into EduSpace. What you type to Cate is sent to our AI provider to produce an answer (see the Privacy Policy for who that is).

Cate can be wrong. Do not rely on it for medical, legal, financial or safety decisions, and check anything that matters. Do not paste other people's personal data into it. The rules of conduct in section 5 apply to what you ask Cate as well.

13. Deleting your account

You can delete your account from Settings → Account → Delete account in the app, or by writing to [email protected].

Your account is hidden from EduSpace immediately, and your data is erased 14 days later. During those 14 days you can sign in again and cancel the deletion. After that it cannot be undone.

What deletion does not do: it does not cancel a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play (cancel that in your Apple ID or Google Play settings), it does not refund coins, and it does not delete messages you sent into other people's conversations — those stay in their copy, signed as a deleted account. The deletion screen lists all of this before you confirm.

We may also close an account that breaks these Terms, as described in section 6.

14. Intellectual property and copyright complaints

The EduSpace name, logo, design and software are ours. These Terms do not give you any right to use them beyond using the Service as intended.

We respect intellectual property rights, including those protected by Federal Decree-Law No. 38 of 2021 on Copyright and Neighbouring Rights. If you believe something on EduSpace infringes your copyright or another right of yours, write to [email protected] with:

  • a link to the content, or enough detail for us to find it;
  • a description of the work or right you believe is infringed;
  • proof that you own the right or are authorised to act for its owner;
  • your name and contact details;
  • a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and given in good faith.

We review the notice, remove or disable access to material that infringes, and tell the person who posted it. If they believe the removal was a mistake — for example, because they have a licence — they may reply with an explanation, and we may restore the content unless the complainant shows that they have started legal proceedings. We close the accounts of repeat infringers.

Knowingly false notices may make the sender liable for the harm they cause.

15. The Service is provided as it is

We work to keep EduSpace running, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will keep every feature it has today. Except where the law does not allow us to say so, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, EduSpace is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or lost data. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or 100 US dollars.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, gross negligence or wilful misconduct, for death or personal injury, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited under the applicable law. Nothing in these Terms affects the rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law, including Federal Law No. 15 of 2020 on Consumer Protection where it applies.

You are responsible for the content you publish and for your use of the Service. If a claim is brought against us by someone else because of content you published or because you broke these Terms or the law, you agree to cover the reasonable losses and costs this causes us, to the extent the law allows.

16. Terms that apply because you use the app on Apple devices

These points are required by Apple and apply to the iOS application:

  1. This agreement is between you and EduSpace only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the application or its content.
  2. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the application. Support is ours: [email protected].
  3. If the application fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the application (which is zero — EduSpace is free to download). Beyond that refund, Apple has no warranty obligation whatsoever.
  4. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim relating to the application, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to conform to a legal requirement, and claims under consumer protection or similar law.
  5. If a third party claims that the application infringes their intellectual property, EduSpace — not Apple — is responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
  6. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as "terrorist supporting", and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  7. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
  8. The application must be used in accordance with Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions in force at the time.

The Android application is distributed through Google Play, and your use of Google Play is also governed by Google's terms.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may change these Terms. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you in the app or by email at least 14 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new version. If you do not, you can delete your account, and any paid plan can be cancelled as described in section 8.

18. Electronic agreement and language

These Terms are an electronic contract. You accept them by creating an account, by ticking a box or pressing a button that says you agree, or by using the Service. Under Federal Decree-Law No. 46 of 2021 on Electronic Transactions and Trust Services, such acceptance is as valid and binding as a signature on paper. We may send you notices about the Service electronically — in the app or by email — and they count as written notices.

These Terms are written in English and may be translated into other languages. If a translation differs from the English version, the English version prevails, unless the law that applies to you requires otherwise.

19. Law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, as applied in the Emirate of Dubai. If you have a complaint, please write to [email protected] first — most problems are solved that way. Disputes that cannot be settled amicably go to the competent courts of Dubai, UAE.

This does not take away any protection given to you by the mandatory law of the country where you live, including the right to bring a claim in the courts there, or to go to a consumer protection authority.

20. General

If a court finds part of these Terms invalid, the rest stays in force. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we do not give it up. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms to anyone else; we may transfer ours as part of a reorganisation, merger or sale of EduSpace, provided your rights are not reduced. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as network outages, natural disasters, or actions of public authorities.

These Terms, together with the documents they refer to, are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
