EduSpace Community Rules

Effective date: 1 September 2026 · Last updated: 2 October 20264 min read

EduSpace is a place where people teach and learn. These rules exist so that it stays one. They apply everywhere on the platform — feeds, comments, chats, notes, spaces, courses, live sessions and messages to the Cate assistant — and they are part of the Terms of Use.

They also reflect the law. Content that is illegal in the United Arab Emirates — including under Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021 on Combatting Rumours and Cybercrimes and Federal Decree-Law No. 38 of 2021 on Copyright and Neighbouring Rights — or in the country where you are, is not allowed on EduSpace, even if these rules do not name it.

What is not allowed

Harassment and bullying. Do not target a person: no insults, no pile-ons, no following someone from space to space, no threats to expose someone, no blackmail.

Privacy. Do not share someone's private information (address, phone, workplace, school, documents) without their agreement. Do not photograph, record or publish other people, their sessions or their private conversations without their consent.

Hate. No content that attacks or dehumanises people for their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, illness, gender, or sexual orientation, and no content that insults religions, their symbols or their places of worship.

Violence, threats and terrorism. No threats against anyone, no glorification of violence, no organising harm, and no support for terrorist or extremist groups.

Sexual and indecent content. EduSpace is an education platform and carries no pornography or indecent content. Sexual content involving minors is reported to the authorities and the account is removed permanently. There are no exceptions, no warnings and no appeals for this one.

Self-harm. Do not encourage suicide, self-injury or eating disorders. If you are struggling, please reach out to a local crisis line — and know that discussing recovery is welcome; encouraging harm is not.

False information and defamation. Do not knowingly spread false news, rumours or fabricated material, and do not make false claims that damage someone's reputation.

Public order and morals. No content that is contrary to public order or public morals under the laws of the United Arab Emirates, and no content that incites others to break the law.

Deception and fraud. No spam, no scams, no pyramid or referral schemes, no gambling, no fake courses, no promises of results you cannot deliver, no impersonating another person, teacher or institution.

Illegal goods and services. Do not offer, sell or promote drugs, weapons, counterfeit goods, forged documents or anything else that is illegal to trade.

Attacks on the platform and its people. No malware, no phishing, no attempts to reach other people's accounts, no scraping, no circumventing limits or payments.

Other people's work. Do not publish material you have no right to publish — books, courses, films, images and code included. Teaching from a source is fine; republishing it is not. Rights holders can send a complaint as described in section 14 of the Terms of Use.

What is welcome

Disagreement, hard questions, unfinished work, mistakes made out loud, and subjects that are difficult to discuss well. A rule against harassment is not a rule against argument.

Space owners may set additional rules inside their own space — narrower topics, a required language, a level of formality. Those apply on top of these, never instead of them. Space owners are responsible for moderating their spaces in line with these rules.

Reporting

Every post, comment, profile, space and message has Report in its menu. Pick a reason, add anything a moderator should know, and send. You can block the person in the same step. You can also write to [email protected].

We review reports within 24 hours. What can happen: nothing (the content did not break a rule), removal of the content, a warning, a temporary suspension, or permanent removal of the account. Serious cases are acted on immediately. When the law requires it, or someone's safety is at risk, we may also report the matter to the competent authorities.

You will not be told what happened to another person's account — that is their private matter — but you will see the reported content disappear if it was removed. Reporting someone in bad faith, to harass them, is itself a breach of these rules.

Blocking

Blocking is one list for the whole platform. Block someone and you stop seeing their posts, comments and messages, they stop seeing yours, and any follow between you is removed. It works from the profile and from the post menu, and it is undone in Settings → Safety → Blocked people.

Blocking is not reporting. If something breaks the rules, report it too — a block protects you, a report protects everyone else.

Appeals

If we remove your content or restrict your account, we tell you, where it is possible and safe, what was removed and which rule it broke.

If you believe we made a mistake, write to [email protected] from the email address on the account within 30 days of the decision. Say what was removed or restricted and why you think the decision was wrong. A person who did not take the original decision will look at it again, and we will tell you the outcome — usually within 14 days. If we find we were wrong, we restore the content or the account.

The only category with no appeal is child sexual abuse material. An appeal does not affect any right you have to go to a competent court or authority.

If a translation of these rules differs from this English version, the English version prevails.
